Join us to mulch 27 Kentucky native trees at the "East Grove at Shropshire", Trees Lexington's first large scale planting from the spring of 2022. Mulching trees regularly helps prevent weeds, protects roots and trunks, while also holding moisture and returning nutrients to the soil.

About the event
Join us to mulch 27 Kentucky native trees at the "East Grove at Shropshire", the site of Trees Lexington's first large scale planting which took place in the spring of 2022. At this workshop, you can expect to learn the ins and outs of maintenance mulching, which is rather simple, but just as easy to do incorrectly. Learn about why mulching trees is an important part of their care and all of the best practices to follow, from material to use, how-to, and more. Participation in this event will earn each volunteer credit hours in our Tree Steward Training Program, designed to educate and provide hands-on learning to those who want to learn about the wonders of trees and how to do more than just plant them, but grow and care for them.
