About the event
Join Trees Lexington and residents of the William Wells Brown neighborhood to plant Kentucky native trees as a part of a community planting project to increase tree canopy in districts 1, 2, and 7. Along with planting, the trees will receive their initial watering and mulching.
These trees will provide valuable shade and cooling as they mature, along with the many other benefits trees provide for us - a sense of place, beauty, food and habitat for songbirds and other wildlife, stormwater mitigation, and cleaner air, to name a few. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring work gloves if you have them.
This event earns Tree Steward Training credits for tree planting. Tree Stewards are a trained and dedicated group of individuals committed to increasing tree canopy in Lexington, Kentucky.
