Mulching Party at Oakdale Apartments

Part of our commitment to Lexington's tree canopy is to care for existing trees, as well as the trees that we plant. This event will take us back to Oakdale Apartments for the final component of one of our Lex Grow Trees grant projects. We will be mulching 45 trees planted by determined volunteers on a cold, very muddy day last fall, as well as 30 balled & burlapped trees planted by contractors this spring. As time and volunteer capacity allows, we also plan to water all 75 trees.

Oakdale Apartments is located in Lexington's 2nd Council District. With a tree canopy cover of only 18%, the 2nd District has the lowest tree canopy score in Lexington, and 12 points to gain to reach the citywide goal of 30% cover.
